The Brazilian star looked set to join Spurs back in
2013 but now says he is happy he jumped at the chance to complete a
dream move to Stamford Bridge instead
Chelsea's Brazilian star Willian says he has no regrets about his
dramatic late move to the club after turning down what looked like a
certain switch to Tottenham.
The 28-year-old was all-but a Spurs player until Chelsea made a late
bid to steal him away from their London rivals in 2013, and Willian had
no hesitation whatsoever in taking them up on that offer.
Willian says that joining the Blues was always his dream, so he jumped at the chance to move to Stamford Bridge.
"I don't know how I can explain that moment. But it was the best
moment I think in my life when I signed with Chelsea because it was my
dream to come here," Willian told the Chelsea YouTube channel.
"When I came I am very, very happy to play for Chelsea, to win titles here, so I am very, very happy."
Willian has been a big hit at Chelsea and was the club's Player of
the Year last year as the shining light in an otherwise dismal season.
He did say that it was difficult to make such a late change of heart,
but having not yet put pen-to-paper with Spurs he felt he had no option
but to join Chelsea.
"Yes, it was difficult. But I didn't sign. When at the last moment
Chelsea call me I say I'm sorry but I go to Chelsea, that's my dream.
"I have to go there, I don't care. I go there."
