The former Barcelona midfielder has been impressed by the Argentina international's displays for Benfica this season

Xavi admits he has been impressed by the performances of Nicolas Gaitan and believes the Benfica winger would have no problems playing for one of La Liga’s leading clubs.

The Argentina international, who has been continually linked with a move to Manchester United, has been one of the standout stars in the Champions League this season and signed a new four-year deal with the Portuguese club earlier in December.

"There are players with a lot of quality such as William Carvalho and Ruben Neves, but I will speak more about Nico Gaitan because I’ve seen him play more regularly,” Xavi told Record.

“More recently, I saw him against Atletico Madrid and he was fantastic in that match.

“He scored a goal of great quality, fabulous, and assisted another. I can say that I was impressed.
